Editorial policy

Our standards for accuracy, sources and corrections.

Accuracy and sources

We aim to publish history that is accurate, fair and clearly sourced. Writers are expected to base claims on reliable evidence and to name their sources. Where historians disagree, we try to say so rather than present one view as settled.

Independence

Our editorial choices are made by our editors, not by advertisers or outside parties. Where a piece reflects the author's own interpretation, it is the author's view and not necessarily that of History or Histora Publications.

Corrections

If we publish a factual error, we will correct it as soon as we can. Significant corrections are noted on the article. To report an error, write to openhistorymagazine@gmail.com with the article address, the passage and a source if you have one.

Images and permissions

We use images that are in the public domain, openly licensed, created by us, or used with permission. Credits are given where they are required or known. If you believe an image or text has been used without proper permission, please contact us and we will review it quickly.

Respect and tone

Open History Magazine deals with conflict, injustice and suffering. We write about these subjects plainly and with care, and we do not publish content that promotes hatred or violence against any group.

Publisher

Open History Magazine is published by Histora Publications, as an initiative of PublicPast: Journal of Public History.
